Somatic Massage CEU Trainings — NCBTMB Approved

Continuing education for massage therapists from Adrienne Engel, LMT, SEP — NCBTMB Approved CEU Provider #1000759 and CE Broker FL Provider #50-33242. Classes are held at the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, and completing the hours in class counts toward your state and national CEU requirements.

If you want to take this deeper, you can pursue the official InBodyMeant Somatic Practitioner Certification, which has three levels.

Somatic Massage will change your life, your career, and your clients' lives by providing a deeper understanding of how tension is established in the body and how your system is designed to gently and completely integrate it with ease, peace, rest, direction, and purpose. — Adrienne Engel, LMT, SEP

Training schedule

Six 16-hour Somatic Integration Trainings Using Percussion

Each class is $350.00 (Level One). The training cycle repeats, allowing you to take it at your own pace:

  • Jaw and Occipital Region
  • Collarbone and Upper Back
  • Diaphragm and Midback
  • Lower Abdomen and Lower Back Region
  • Arm and Shoulder
  • Knees and Feet

8-Hour Somatic Massage and the Parasympathetic Response

This 8-hour course prepares massage therapists to recognize and engage the parasympathetic response in their clients. The parasympathetic response allows the body and mind to release and integrate tension. Students learn to use their awareness, support, presence, and language to facilitate parasympathetic responses; learn the anatomy of the autonomic nervous system; and learn to track both sympathetic and parasympathetic states. Upon completing the class, they can guide their clients in activating a parasympathetic response both in sessions and in daily life. The active parasympathetic response is the foundation of somatic massage.

The class includes lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and group discussion.

Learning objectives — students will:

  1. Define what a parasympathetic response is
  2. List the benefits of creating a parasympathetic response in the client
  3. Describe the sympathetic system that can interrupt the parasympathetic response
  4. Discuss the anatomy of the autonomic nervous system (ANS)
  5. Discuss how the world around us influences our sympathetic and parasympathetic systems
  6. Demonstrate a guided parasympathetic activation
  7. Practice engaging the parasympathetic response in their learning partner
  8. Demonstrate how to draw the flow of the ANS and talk about sympathetic-to-parasympathetic flow

The course is offered live the month before each 16-hour course. For best results, join live—but if you miss it, recordings of the demos and lessons are available, so you can review online and get familiar with the language and skills before the 16-hour class. The recorded course is $125.00; once you've registered, text Adrienne at 352-222-0236 for access to the prep classes.

    From students

    All testimonials

I had an amazing time, got healed from some stuck trauma, and got an understanding of how to help others. Adrienne, you were an excellent teacher. I will be out of town for your next class in June, but I will make sure I'm available for future classes. This work can be done by anyone. You do not have to be a therapist!

    Susan Mckelligott

It was amazing. I learned so much, and I can't wait to use this knowledge to help myself and others. I look forward to taking the other classes.
