Find God In The Storm
I recently struggled to cling to God amid a hurricane. I found myself on the floor of my hallway, in the dark with no electricity, hearing microbursts ripping my neighbors' roofs off their houses and trees crashing into the homes next to me. I was trying my best to turn to God, to trust as we are invited. I couldn't. My body felt like iron; I was shaking uncontrollably, my muscles and mind unable to let go and feel the presence of God that I am so used to quickly accessing. The storm bands lasted four hours. I thought it was never going to end. I felt like the storm carried my faith away with it. It took me until mid-day the next day to feel the presence and peace God provides return.
I have a renewed compassion for people stuck in natural disasters or chronic anxiety. I dedicate this next week of practice to all those who suffer these traumatic events. I hope these classes help us all to condition an unshakeable connection to God's living peace, no matter what storm we face.
Today's Song — "To God Be The Glory" by We Are Messengers
Listen to today's song first, and notice which words or verses come alive and speak to you. Notice where you feel the aliveness happening with(In) your system. Then listen to the "receiving the power in your worship" video.
This song brought me so much peace as I was slowly settling down after the storm. As you listen, notice which lines or melodies stand out to you. Notice how it helps you as you take a moment to fully receive the Divine aliveness given to you through this song.
Thank you to the writers Darren Mulligan, Taylor Hill, Andrew Bergthold, Kevin Burgess, and Randy Jackson.
